Is work, work, when it’s fun and interesting?

August 5, 2011

Several friends have noticed my absence from the blogging in awhile, others have probably been thankful I haven’t. While it may take wisdom to not always speak one’s mind, and patiently wait to respond immediately, I at least have to shoot from the hip occassionally.

That said, this blog doesn’t necessarily reflect any views of my employer(s).

Back to having some fun again though, I’ll even leave out the story of my fun experiences with local government this time. I had fun with it though, most of my close friends know the full story. Others think they know the story. Others will remain blissfully and willfully ignorant of it. So, speaking of fun, yes I’m having fun at my new job. It may not be the most exciting thing in the world staring at a computer screen, finding new ways to lock down systems against cyberthreats, but it’s interesting (and pretty rewarding too). It’s fun learning hundreds of things that DON’T work before actually finding one that does (anyone in IA…not refering to Iowa…can relate). Finding that one solution is a great feeling…until the next vulnerability comes out. It’s a daily learning experience which I love. It keeps me on my toes and skills up to date.

In the meantime, I’m starting to enjoy downtime again. Looking forward to co-owning a business while working full time. I’ve got a great partner in my wife who’s the 51% owner in it.
